The Woods Camping Resort, Lehighton (LGBT)Īmazingly, Sunny Rest Resort was established back in 1945, making it presumably among the oldest nudist resorts in Pennsylvania. The drinks at the bar were good and not too expensive, didnt try the food because we brought our own. At the conversation pool we met a lot of nice people and shared traveling stories. Many people we met were members, one as long as 12 years. A few people had their children there, at first I thought it would be ackward but obviously this is a lifestyle that they are brought up in and so they were not even phased by it. A few people just walked up and started conversations with us which was nice. Wednesdays they hold volley ball in the pool which was fine. The poolside bar was open as was the restaurant. The place was very clean, bathroom and shower area included. Since it was a weekday their were plenty of lounge chairs to choose from. Directly across the street was a porta potty which I was suprised was clean and even smelled nice! We set up camp, then off with the clothes. Upon arrival to the campsite, there were ample picnic tables and electric spickets if you wanted to run electricity. The tenting area is a first come first serve basis, no reservations required. We arrived and were greeted kindly at the office. Since we like to camp we decided we would pitch a tent instead of getting a room. Spur of the moment we decided to take an overnight trip, something close and inexpensive. We are not nudist however we have no issue with nudity. P/S - one last thing - even the food at the restaurant was really good! Who would have expected that?!Ī year ago we found this place on the internet but never got around to going. No reason to go anywhere else in the future when we get the itch to be naked. My final thought is that Sunny Rest is a top notch facility, and i can say with confidence that I believe we have found our "home resort" now. We don't have to agree with it, but who are we to judge. One must realize that most adults who bring children to naturalist facilities, have grown up nudists themselves, and many times they are even several generation nudists. That said, we ignored the children, and they ignored us. I'm not crazy about it either, but that seems to be the norm from anywhere i've been to in the past. Only possible negative thing I can think of is that there were some children around - perhaps 3 or 4 of them. Previous facilities we've visited, we'd felt like fresh meat to everyone. Everyone allowed us space, but where very courteous and friendly when approached. What I also liked is how low key the other visitors and staff where. That said, I was naked all of the time and my wife was naked most of the time, but it was nice to have the option to be clothed when you want, and to take it slow in the beginning. I don't like the "take your cloths off immediately" nazi's at some other nudists facilities I've been to. What I liked most about the resort was the clothing "optional" aspect of it, which allows for one to disrobe when they want and at there own pace. You have to know her to understand how much that says about Sunny Rest. My wife sceptically joined me at the other two resorts we'd visited, and she was nervous about this one and expected the worst, but awesomely enough - now she is very willingly prepared to go back to Sunny Rest. We've been to two other nudists resorts before and this one was by far the best. And the staff COULD NOT HAVE BEEN ANY NICER. All of the people there pretty much kept to themselves, but were nice, and we did even make a few friends. We had a downright blast in fact! My wife was honesty one of the better looking girls amongst all of the girls at the resort, and she was not hit on, gawked at, and neither of us was harassed by anyone in any manner. But I must say that we did not see a single act of anything even remotely sexually suggestive, did not see anyone doing drugs, and did not experience any rudeness by anyone. The wife and I spent the day/night there this past saturday, and based on some of the comments here, I was fully prepared to deal with anything that came about.
